For a decade, a Boca weekend in early August followed a predictable arc. Dinner somewhere on Plaza Real, a walk through Mizner Park, maybe a free concert at the Amphitheater if the tribute band was one you cared about. That arc still works. What's changed this spring is where the good new tables are, and it's worth recalibrating before the Summer in the City series wraps for the year.
The two Fridays that anchor the next fortnight
The free concert series at Mizner Park Amphitheater, 590 Plaza Real, has two dates left. Peace of Woodstock Band plays Friday, July 31 at 8:00 PM, and the season closer is the 6th Annual Battle of the Bands on Friday, August 7, 2026, with doors at 6:00 PM and the show at 7:00 PM. Both are free.
If you have not been in a couple of summers, the ground rules are the same as they've always been. Seating is first come, first served, so bring a chair or a blanket, and the city encourages walking, biking, or using the free parking at City Hall and the Boca Raton Library. Food and beverages are for sale inside the venue; outside alcohol is not permitted.
That's the anchor. The interesting question is where you eat before you go.
Where the openings actually landed this spring
If you last updated your Boca dining list around the holidays, you're behind. Four notable openings this spring did not concentrate along Plaza Real. They spread.
Maison Brunch opened in April with a French café menu built around a village in the Vendée region, running from croissants and quiches to croque-monsieur and charcuterie. It reads as a daytime spot rather than a dinner destination, which matters if you're planning the Friday itself.
Bello Forno Ristorante also opened in April, focused on traditional Italian preparations with an emphasis on freshness and simplicity.
Rosalia's Botanical Café had a ribbon cutting on May 24 with Mayor Andy Thomson. Created by Ariel and Sherry Solomov and named for Ariel's grandmother, the café is built around botanical drinks and artisan desserts in a space designed to feel serene rather than scene-y. Useful to know when you want a post-concert dessert stop that isn't a chain scoop shop.
Cookie Head reopened March 29 with a rotating menu of baked goods and soft serve. Staples include Classic Sugar, Nutella Red Velvet, and Chocolate Chip, with monthly rotations like Cookie Butter Cheesecake and Dubai Chocolate.
None of these are on Plaza Real. That's the pattern.
The Town Center pull
The other shift is at Town Center at Boca Raton, which has quietly stacked two announcements that will change how residents route weekend dinners once they open.
Limani Grill is coming to Town Center with a Greek seafood program built around market-fresh fish, crudo, and charcoal-grilled specialties, using first-pressed Kalamata olive oil and Santorini capers. The concept reads as a serious dinner room rather than a casual lunch stop.
Felice, the family-run New York City spot for Tuscan food, is opening at Town Center at 6000 Glades Road. Founded in 2007 on Manhattan's Upper East Side by Jacopo Giustiniani, it's part of SA Hospitality Group, the company behind Sant Ambroeus and Casa Lever. The Town Center site lists it as "coming soon" without a firm date. That's a name-brand New York import landing at the mall, not downtown. It's the clearest signal yet that the dining center of gravity in Boca is spreading outward from Mizner Park in the same way it spread west of Swinton in Delray.
What's still on the horizon
A handful of announced openings are worth putting on the radar so you don't miss them the week they arrive.

A few notes on that list. Maman is expanding into the area with three locations, one each in west Boca, central Boca, and downtown Delray, and the brand has done limited collaborations with Martha Stewart including a Milk Chocolate Crème Brûlée Sugar Bun. Black Star Bakery & Cafe is opening its first location outside New York around May with a menu spanning croissants, bagels, sandwiches, and grain bowls, plus lavender and rose matcha iced lattes. Crema Gourmet on Yamato Road is planned as an all-day breakfast spot, keeping eggs, omelets, and pancakes available past the morning rush. Beignets & Brew pairs specialty coffees like a Biscoff Cookie Butter Latte with beignet varieties ranging from classic powdered sugar to a Turtle finished with caramel, cream cheese, chocolate, and pecans. Il Migliore is set for East Palmetto Park Road with housemade pastas, refined antipasti, and classic Italian entrées in a space aimed at date nights and business dinners.
The pattern in that table is the point. West Boca, Yamato Road, Palmetto Park, Town Center, Glades Road. Downtown is one node on the map, not the map.
A resident's weekend template for the next two Fridays
Here's how to actually use the above, working backward from an 8:00 PM downbeat at the Amphitheater on July 31 and a 7:00 PM downbeat on August 7.
Early evening. If you want to stay walkable to the Amphitheater, keep dinner within the Mizner Park loop and treat the openings on Palmetto Park and Yamato Road as separate weekend outings. If you want dinner to feel like an evening in itself, Bello Forno's April opening is the fresher Italian option than most of the standbys downtown, and Rosalia's Botanical Café on the dessert-and-drinks side of the equation is the newest room in the city that isn't trying to be loud.
Parking, seriously. The Amphitheater lot fills quickly on tribute nights and Battle of the Bands historically draws a bigger crowd than a single tribute act. Valet is available at several locations around Mizner Park, and paid preferred parking is offered on concert nights in the adjacent lot and at the church behind the Amphitheater, cash only. Free at City Hall and the library is still the best move if you get there by 6:30.
Weather. Shows are rain or shine, so a poncho is a real consideration in early August.
Sunday morning. Maison Brunch is the freshest addition to the daytime rotation. Save it for the morning after the concert, not the same night.
The longer arc
Zoom out and one thing is clear. The 2026 spring class of Boca openings did not cluster on Plaza Real, and the biggest announced arrivals, Felice and Limani, are landing at Town Center. The Amphitheater is still the reliable Friday night draw through August 7, and the free calendar is one of the last remaining reasons a resident's summer weekend still has to route through downtown. After the Battle of the Bands closes the series, the interesting food nights in Boca will be increasingly at the edges of the city rather than at its ceremonial center.
Save the date on one more Amphitheater night while you're thinking about it. Passport to Pours at Mizner Park Amphitheater is set for Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 4:00 PM, which is the sensible bridge from a summer spent at free concerts to a fall spent at ticketed ones.
